European Union approves Roche’s drug to fight Skin Cancer

EU has given Swiss drug giant Roche approval on Monday for its treatment to fight skin cancer. The company announced in a statement that the European Commission gave the go signal to Zelboraf, a drug used to treat adults with metastatic melanoma.

It allows patient to live considerably longer. Study shows that the risk of death was reduced by 63 percent for people who received Zelboraf compared to those who received standard first-line treatment. The treatment’s already approved by Brazil, Canada and Switzerland.
